BALLINTOTIS RUNNERS AND JOGGERS


NOW MEET EACH TUESDAY - 7.15PM
AT THE CHURCH CAR PARK

The Midleton AC 5 Mile Road Race takes place at 8pm on Thursday 3/5/12 from Dwyer's Road (near The Midleton Park Hotel).

You may enter at Midleton Community Centre between 6pm and 7pm. Alternatively entries will be taken at Midleton GAA from 5pm onwards on race night this Thursday May 3rd.

In response to a number of enquiries - Please note for non members - Midleton A.C is still open for membership for the year at a cost of €35.
The club trains on grass at Midleton CBS on Mondays 6.30pm to 7.30pm and also on Tuesdays from 7pm on the road (meet at Midleton Community Centre).

The final figure of 737 represented a 34% increase on last year’s figure and we have just been informed of a piece of history in that this number - 737 sets a new record for a mid week road race in Cork City and County.

 

Thanks to those members of the Community Council who assisted in advance of and on the night of the race. Also to the many people from the Ballintotis area who assisted in the lead up, on the night and after this year’s Road Race.

Minister Phil Hogan T.D. unveils Foundation Stone

Minister Phil Hogan,T.D., Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government, unveiled the foundation stone for the new Ballintotis Community Centre on Friday July 8th last. Monsignor E. Goold P.P., Midleton performed the blessing while local dignitaries, TDs, County Councillors, SECAD Board and Executives, Muintir Na Tire Representative, Cork County Council executives and sponsors who have provided funding were all in attendance. The members of the Ballintotis Sciath na Scoil hurling panel were also in attendance and proudly displayed the Sciath na Scoil cup, which they recently won at Pairc Ui Ring, to the large gathering.
The new community centre which will be located near to the Church in Ballintotis will provide a much needed centre for the local community catering for all. The main contractor is HG Construction Ltd. from Watergrasshill. The building is expected to be complete by this December. The Community Council arranged light refreshments following the enjoyable and memorable afternoon on the shore of Lough Aderra Lake.

South East Cork Area Development (SECAD) have signed a contract with Ballintotis Area Community Council for the provision of grant aid in the amount of € 150,000 to support the construction of a new community centre , total value € 325, 000 at Ballintotis, Midleton. SECAD, located in Midleton, provide a wide range of support to local community groups and local enterprises over a wide geographical area spanning across East Cork to Ballincollig, Carrigaline and Douglas.
