School Concert
The Ballintotis National School Christmas Concertt will take place on this Thursday evening December 17th at St Colman's Church beginning at 7pm. As usual al pupils from the school will be involved.

Balintotis Lap of The Lake Walk
The traditional Ballintotis "Lap Of The Lake" will take place on Sunday December 27th, commencing at 2.30pm. It's an opportunity to mix and mingle with friends and neighbours and maybe renew old acquaintances at Christmas time. Please assemble at the Church Car Park in advance of the 2.30pm start. All are invited to return to the Community Centre afterwards for light refreshments.

Fit4Life Relay Run
Earlier on the same day the Community Centre should be buzzing from mid morning as teams assemble for the Ballintotis Fit4Life Christmas Relay Run. This event has proved hugely popular over the past few seasons with teams of four, each member of which runs the route around the Lake. Club members should ensure to enter in advance by contacting any member of the organising committee. Remember the Fit4Life Club meet each Thursday evening at 7.15pm in Castlemartyr for their weekly training run. This week club members will assemble afterwards at Shortts bar for some seasonal "light refreshments".
Non-members of the club are able to take part in the relay run also. Great cause so the more money we can raise for Culann the better. See link for more information

Tuesday Club
The Tuesday Club is currently on a mid winter break and wil return in late Januray. Please keep an eye to this column for further information.

Christmas Ceremonies
The Christmas ceremonies at St Colman's Church in Ballintotis will take place at their customary times again this year. Mass on Christmas Eve will begin at 8pm with Mass on Christmas Day will be at 10am. Confessions will be heard on Christmas Eve from 3pm to 4pm and again from 7.30pm to 8pmk prior to Mass.

Ballintotis Fit 4 Life Relay Run

A Relay Run is planned to take place on Sunday 27th December at 11:30am in Ballintotis.

Cost is €5 per person. Teams of 4. Names in advance to Noreen at

All proceeds to "Culann wants to walk". A very worthwhile cause

A social evening was held at Ballintotis Community Hall on Sunday 08/11/15
to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Mons. Ned Goold and also to mark the
transfer from Ballintotis National School of former principal, Marjorie Barry.

This year’s Ballintotis ‘4’ Mile Road Race was launched in style in the plush surrounds of Castlemartyr Resort. Guests were treated to healthy fruit skewers, granola bars and homemade smoothies prepared by head chef Kevin Burke.

Martin Is World Champion

Martin Enright hit the headlines on the world stage, when winning the
Mr Universe Body Building Final in the United States.

The Ballinascartha man had put in some tremendous training for the event and got his just rewards when capturing the gold medal in the process defeating the competition favourite, who had 6 major ttiles to his credit.

A night of celebration took place at O’Neill’s Bar in Midleton to welcome Martin home .

History is made in Wimbledon
and Andy Murray wins as well

CJ makes her winning leap

A Ballintotis family made history in Wimbledon last week when they became the first from the area to attend at the Wimbledon Mens' Singles Final as guests of the All England Club. The family dog, CJ, was instrumental in the story as it was her leap that made it all happen.

Enjoying the 2013 Championship on TV, Lisa Cooney decided to enter the on-line photographic competition, Wimbledon's 'Shot of the Day'.

As the theme for the day was 'Rackets', Lisa made a fence out of four tennis rackets and thought she might capture the family dog, CJ, jumping it. CJ duly obliged and Lisa expertly captured the shot on her phone just at the right moment. The photo was submitted and, not alone won the competition that day, but was adjudged the overall winner in the 'Shot of the Tournament' competition as well! And the prize - an all expenses paid trip for two to the Mens' Singles Final - wow!

Ok, so Lisa was definitely on the plane but who was going to take the second seat? Some felt that CJ deserved it but she felt herself that it might be a bit warm in Centre Court for her so she decided to stay at home and watch it on the telly with her paws up. Seeing as the rackets in the shot were Lisa's brother James's, the entitlement was his and off both went and had a fantastic time at Wimbledon. And what a year to be there with Andy Murray winning the final, beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets, to become the first British winner of the title in 77years.

Well done Lisa and CJ (and Andy)!!
