Ballintotis Bulletin 20/3/17

Sciath na Scol

The Sciath na Scol hurling competition will begin on this Thursday March 23rd V Killeagh in Midleton at 1.00pm and this match will be followed on Wednesday 29th March with an away game against Castlelyons. Dates for matches against Inch and Conna are yet to be confirmed. Best of luck to the Ballintotis team in all their games.

Recycling Collection

Ballintotas NS are holding a fundraising Recycling Clothing Collection on Wednesday 29th March. Bags of clean unwanted rewearable clothes – curtains, bed linens, hand bags, belts and paired shoes may be brought to the school before 9.30 on Wednesday 29th. Your support will be much appreciated.

Tuesday Club

The Tuesday Club are going on a shopping outing next Tuesday 28th March, leaving Ballintotis Church at 2.00pm.

The club members had a most enjoyable day at the Community Centre last Tuesday as Maria Ham, Cork Sports Partnership put the members through a series of exercises. All members enjoyed the idea of participating in such a fun way in doing exercise. After a delicious lunch the Ballintotas School choir entertained the members with some of the numbers they sang the previous week in the INAC Killarney.

Community Council News

The recent monthly meeting of Ballintotis Area Community Council discussed a wide range of topics including the persistent problem of people dropping rubbish in the area.

A clean up on Saturday Feb 11th dealt with a lot of the obvious rubbish on the route, and the signs on the route helped to bring some people out. A further clean up prior to the race will be required, and will coincide will hedgecutting. Monday April 10 at 7.00 is the agreed date. This time the organisers will be looking for greater support from local residents.

The damaged Pontoon has been moved so that it is now not accessible to the public. Meantime stocking of the Lake by the South West Fisheries Board is due to take place within the next two months.

There is just over a month to go the Ballintotis 4 Mile Road Race, which is the only fund raiser held each year. An appeal is also sent to the local business community in relation to sponsorship ahead of the race. It takes a considerable amount of money to organise the race, so financial donations and sponsorship of prizes would be greatly appreciated. Please call John on 086-8778182 if you can help. All proceeds from the race go towards the upkeep and development of the Community Centre.

Race Entries Now Open This Tuesday

The new look Ballintotis web site is the point of contact to enter this year's Road Race. On line entry opened last week, with entries being received on a steady basis. The option of on line entry will remain until the Monday prior to the race. On line entry allows participants to move through to the Pre Registration Desk on race night. Please spread the word to your running colleagues regarding this option.

Race Meeting

The next meeting of the race committee will take place on Monday evening next March 27th at 8.30pm in the Community Centre. All committee members are asked to attend.
