Information Meeting at Community Centre
Last Friday's Information Meeting at the Community Centre proved to be a worthwhile venture as Ballintotis Area Community Council showcased events currently taking place at the venue and explored several possible new activities. The success of these depends on public response but the seeds have been sewn for at least a few new ventures to begin in the not too distant future.
The following is the progress report of some of these events.
Flower Arranging Classes
This a definite "goer" and will be hosted by Paula McAuliffe, beginning on Thursday October 5th in the Community Centre. A number of people have already signed up for these classes which will be run over five successive Thursdays at a total cost of 25 euro. To book your place please call 087-9050767. It is hoped that these forthcoming classes could become the prelude to the foundation of a Flower/Garden Club locally
There seems to strong interest in reactivating the Youth Club which would be based in Ballintotis Community Centre. Ger Broderick has aired the idea and so far the response has been very positive. If you can help in any way or wish to find out more information please call 087 7716888 . The Club will cater initially for those between Sixth Class and Junior Cert age groups and would meet on Friday evenings. More news on this to follow shortly.
There certainly has been an expression of interest on a number of occasions to begin a Walking Club in Ballintotis, following in the footsteps of the very successful Fit4Life Club. Martin Hackett is one of the people willing to take the first steps. Please call 086 0890841 if you are interested in becoming involved in this proposed new group.
Amongst the suggestions aired were the possibility of setting up a Parent and Toddler Club which would meet one morning a week at the Community Centre and the addition of Relaxation/Yoga Classes at some time during the weekend. Work is currently being done on both these projects which hopefully will lead to more positive news.

Congratulations to all the pupils from Ballintotis National School who represented the school in such fine style at last week's East Cork Cross Country Schools Championships in Castlelyons. There were some great performances all round but top billing must go to Eoin Quirke who won his race in tremendous fashion. Eoin is a highly accomplished athlete with Midleton AC and added another gold medal to his collection last Friday.
Sciath Na Scoll
It's two wins from two games for Ballintotis National School in the Sciath Na Scol Football Competition. The locals got the better of Little island NS last week to maintain their promising start to the new campaign.
New Altar Servers
Good to see a number of new altar servers coming on board at St Colman's Church in Ballintotis on Sunday morning last. The new recruits take the place of those who have recently moved on to Secondary School.
The Tuesday Club is up and running again for the Autumn Winter season. The group will meet again on next Tuesday October 3rd. Between now and Christmas there is variety aplenty for club members and of course intending new members. All Over 50's welcome to attend.
