Ballintotis '4' Mile Road Race in April
James McCarthy is the undoubted king in Ballintotis when it comes road running. The 8th running of the Ballintotis 4 Miler saw the East Cork Clubman maintain his incredible one hundred per cent record at the venue, but only after a titanic battle with clubmate Sean McGrath from Ballyandreen. It was a tremendous climax to another high class sporting occasion that brought almost 900 runners to the picturesque venue.
The 2018 Ballintotis '4' Mile Race will be held on Thursday April 19th and would you believe it will be the 9th year of the race!
Thanks to those who came along and supported the recent Ballintotis Festive Fayre on Sunday 4th December organised by the Hall Committee. Over 30 stand holders exhibited a diverse range of products.
A word of thanks to all who attended and all those who helped to make the 19th Annual Ballintotis Table Quiz another very successful venture. Almost 20 teams took part with as usual a broad mix of questions set by Quiz Master Tim O'Sullivan. In the end, there was the usual close battle for honours before the team led by Midleton's Denis Fitzgerald came out on top. There were prizes aplenty thanks to the generous sponsorship of members of the local business community ensuring that many of the participants left with something to show for their evening's entertainment. Well done to Dominick Knowles and his colleagues for organising the event yet again - here's to number 20 next year!
Congratulations to highly talented young local soccer player Christopher O'Connor who was recently selected on the Irish International Under 15 Squad for the International against Poland. Christopher has from early age shown fantastic ability on the playing fields and is a young player with real eye for goals. His recognition at International level is a true reflection of his outstanding ability and we wish him every success in the years ahead.
Also a few words of sporting congratulations to Eoin Quirke from Ballintotis who had a great run in the recent All Ireland Cross Country Championships, to cap off a marvelous year for this highly talented athlete.
Ballintotis can also rejoice in the wonderful 22nd place of Ferghal Curtin in the Men's Under 20 Race at the European Cross Country Championships in Slovakia. Ferghal from Killeagh is son of Ballintotis native Noel Curtin and grandson of Mrs Kay Curtin Caheraultan.
New Walking Club - Takes To The Road
The sun shone gloriously in Ballintotis recently as the Ballintotis Area Community Council Walking Club set off on their maiden journey. The well known 4 mile trail route (same as the Road Race) was familiar for most of the participants who were part of the historic day. Well done to Martin Hackett for setting up this new club and here's to many years of happy walking. The next walk is planned for early in the New Year, but in the meantime the traditional Ballintotis "Lap of the Lake" will again be held this year as usual on December 27th, beginning at 2.30pm (and not 2pm as in previous years)
More information regarding the new Walking Club is available by calling Martin Hackett on 086-0890841
Ballintotis Tuesday Club
Members of Ballintotis Tuesday Club enjoyed a busy afternoon sampling the delights of Griffins Garden Centre in Dripsey recently, where they ticked some items off their pre-Christmas shopping list.

Ballintotis Fit 4 Life
A big word of congratulations to all the Ballintotis Fit 4Life members who took part in the recent Waterford Half Marathon. Conditions were close to perfect for the big race which attracted over 2,000 entries. Many of the locals had excellent runs including a number of coveted personal best times
Louise Casey P.R.O of Ballintotis Fit 4 Life Club has been in touch with all the details regarding this year's Relay Run on December 27th.
"This year, we will hold our annual Ballintotis Fit 4 Life Fun Relay Run, on Wednesday December 27th at 10:00am from Ballintotis Community Hall.
We have over 22 teams picked which totals over 90 participants. Great morning assured for all.
This years raised funds will be for the Bumbleance Children's Ambulance service.
Lap of the Lake Walk
This is also planned for Wednesday December 27th with a kick off time of 2:30pm. A great opportunity to meet your friends and neighbours and enjoy a cup of tea in the community centre afterwards.
The Annual General Meeting of BACC Ltd will be held on Wednesday 31st January at 8:30pm in the Community Centre. We would encourage every household in our community to have a representative in attendance as this is an important forum for views and opinions to be aired and incorporated into community council plans and activities.
At the AGM we will have a member of the local Garda Siochana present who will give an update on rural crime. This is a very topical issue in recent times so worth hearing from the people that are working to reduce it.
