Fit4 Life Club - Relay Success

Ballintotis Fit4Life Club raised €2,100 for BUMBLEance from their Relay Lap of the Lake that took place on December 27th. In total 31 teams each consisting of 4 people took part and a great morning enjoyed by all. Congrats are sent to club committee on organising such a great event and well done to all involved.

The proceeds from the morning's activities will be presented on this Thursday January 18th at 4.30pm at Ballintotis Hall.

Meantime on this coming Sunday many Ballintotis club runners are expected to take part in the

Cloyne 4K Race which is timed for 9.30am. Many from the club are presently fine tuning their preparations in advance of the Dungarvan 10 Mile Race in just over three week's time.

New Beginner's Group - This Thursday

"Just because you don't run, doesn't mean you cant", so says Ballintotis Fit4Life Club P.R.O Louise Casey. She continues with an open invitation. "If you can walk for half an hour, chances are that you can pick up the pace and give running or jogging a try. So why not join our friendly group this Thursday night at 7.15 for a new milestone in your life. Ballintotis Fit 4 life welcome everyone and cater for all paces. Meet at Castlemartyr School Hall this and every Thursday during the winter months. Who knows you could be taking your first steps towards the start line of the Ballintotis '4' Mile Race which takes place on April 19th".

The Annual General Meeting of Ballintotis Area Community Council Ltd will be held on Wednesday 31st January at 8:30pm in the Community Centre. We would encourage every household in our community to have a representative in attendance as this is an important forum for views and opinions to be aired and incorporated into community council plans and activities.

At the AGM we will have a member of the local Garda Siochana present who will give an update on rural crime. This is a very topical issue in recent times so worth hearing from the people working to reduce it.

Ballintotis "Watch Group" - Have You Joined This Group?

Meantime, on a similar line the new Ballintotis "Watch Group" is certainly worth becoming involved in. This is basically a "Whats App" group that gives us a bit more security especially during the winter months. It means that anybody who has a smart phone can access the group by joining up.

Thereby instant communication is received by all members regarding security matters in our area. It's up to the members to keep a watchful eye should they notice something or somebody unusual in the area. By means of an instant message everybody is in the know. To join the group please register locally with Ger Broderick. Contact Ger on 087-7716888 with your name and number - remember you must have access to "Whats App" to join the group.

New Walking Club Host Meeting

The recently formed Ballintotis Walking Club held an Open Meeting at the Community Centre on Monday of this week, where plans were discussed for the months ahead. It is hoped that members will meet at least once a month for a variety of walks in different locations. More information regarding the new Walking Club is available by calling Martin Hackett on 086-0890841.

Well done to Seadhna Smyth who was selected by the Cork Senior Hurling selectors for last Sunday's Co Op Superstores Munster League match, thus becoming the latest local man to wear the rebel senior jersey.
