New Community Council Member Election
The present Community Council is nearing the completion of it's three year term and a new Council will be in place by early 2019.
In recent years we have listed all adults in the community council areas and asked each household to identify a person on the list that they would like to represent them on the community council.
From this year onwards due to restrictions imposed by GDPR ( Data Protection Guidelines ) we are recommending the election of council members in the following way;
If you would like to represent your area we are asking to make your intentions known to one of the people listed below;
Kevin Cronin - Chairman
087 121 7034
Tom O Brien - Secretary
086 803 0354
Tim Troy - PRO
087 646 9669
We need your support, so please consider putting your name forward!
Closing date for accepting nominations is December 31st 2018
The Annual General Meeting of BACC Ltd will be held on Wednesday 23rd January at 8:30pm in the Community Centre. We would encourage every household in our community to have a representative in attendance, as this is an important forum for views and opinions to be aired and incorporated into community council plans and activities.
Ballintotis '4' Mile Road Race in April
The 9th Ballintotis 4 mile was another great success for the local East Cork village, attracting over 900 runners. All came to the small village to enjoy a great evening of entertainment and racing. A high class field of athletes took to the start line. James McCarthy, who had won all eight races to date, was looking to take another to add to an already incredible achievement.
The race was extremely close with Sergiu Ciobanu, Michael Harty, James McCarthy and Paul Moloney all in close proximity until Ciobanu and Harty started to pull away. Michael Harty of East Cork AC stormed up the home straight to take top spot and a course record in the process.
The Ladies race was won by the in-form Fiona Santry, also of East Cork AC. Many other battles were played out on the course for age category prizes. Well done to all involved in Ballintotis and surrounding area who made this a great event. The hospitality in this part of Cork is well and truly top class.
The 2019 Ballintotis '4' Mile Race will be held on Wednesday April 17th and would you believe it will be the 10th year of the race!
Twenty Five teams ensured that our recent Ballintotis Table Quiz was one of the most successful in the 20 year history of the event. As always there were plenty of prizes to be won, with the top prizes being carried off by James Aherne and his colleagues who set a very high standard at the top of the leaderboard. Congrats to all winners and a big word of thanks is extended to all who supported the event on the night and who donated prizes for the event. Proceeds from this year's Quiz will go towards the enhancement of facilities at Loughaderra Lake.
